Dental Health Initiative

Utilizing the power of television and social media, the Doddridge County 4-H Teen Leaders created a series of educational short videos for use in the Doddridge County schools system.

The dental videos will include health message on facing your dental fears, brushing, flossing, tobacco prevention, mouth protection and available dental health services. Under the leadership of WVU Extension Service 4-H Agent Zona Hutson, the teens wrote, filmed, and edited each video.

The goal is to help shed light on the dental health problems that impact their community and the state. The 4-H’ers hoped that other youths might find the message to be more powerful if it comes from someone they can relate to.

The videos were made possible through WVU Oral Health Imitative mini-grant Initiative supported by the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation.

A Trip to the Dentist

A message from Senator Rockefellar

Senator Rockefeller encourages good dental health. The Senator believes that making sure children receive dental care is without a doubt the most important first step.

4-H “Floss” Mobs

Teens attending West Virginia’s state 4-H camps in 2011 competed to see which group had the best flash mob brushing on the lawn of WVU Jackson’s Mill. Check out the two videos and decide which teens had the best brushing and flossing techniques—and dance moves!
