Food Safety Recommendations for Culinary Exhibits at West Virginia Fairs and Festivals
West Virginia University Extension Service Families and Health recently conducted an inventory of 23 West Virginia fairs’ and festivals’ amateur food exhibitor guidelines. This study was conducted to determine what types of safety precautions are required of food exhibitors in different amateur competitions.
These findings may help all West Virginia fairs and festivals improve their food exhibit standards and promote food safety to their exhibitors.
The recommendations and guidelines are provided to encourage food exhibitors to follow and promote food safety at all fairs and festivals. The recommendations include explanations for why they are made.
